What is DNS?

DNS [ Domain Name System ] is the service that translates the site addresses into IP addresses so that web servers can understand. When you type a web address in your browser, a DNS server will find the IP address that is linked to it so the correct site will be opened. It is important to know those large websites such as Google and Facebook use a pool of IP addresses, not just one.

Your ISP gives you a DNS that is configured in your router. However, you aren’t forced to use that one unless you have that in your contract.
